The Irish team will take on the Men in Blue for the second and final T20I of the series scheduled at the Malahide Cricket Club in Dublin on June 28. The two teams met on Sunday to play a rain-delayed match and India emerged victorious, courtesy of Deepak Hooda’s heroics. Skipper Hardik Pandya will look to end the series at 2-0 with the possibility of making a couple of changes to the combination.

The first game witnessed Umran Malik getting his debut cap, but because the match was shortened to 12 overs per side, he got to bowl just one over. Malik conceded quite a few runs in the six deliveries that he bowled, but because he is fresh into the international setup, he is expected to continue in the next game too.

Speaking of the Indian batting lineup, Ruturaj Gaikwad missed out on India’s innings as he suffered a niggle in his calf, and thus his inclusion in the upcoming game remains to be doubtful. If he is to miss the game, there are chances of Sanju Samson making his way back into the Blues. In the case of Samson’s inclusion, Hooda might continue to open the innings, and Samson might join the top order, at No. 3.

As for the Irish team, Harry Tector would look to play the crucial knock again, if the team’s top order failed to put up a worthy performance. Wicketkeeper-batter Lorcan Tucker looked in good shape in the previous game but was dismissed soon. If given the opportunity, he would try to accelerate the innings and take the score to a high end.

Pitch and conditions

Just like the first game, the surface will support the bowlers in the first innings, and thus the toss-winning captain would look to chase. The first game saw three wickets falling in the first four overs of the match, providing assistance to the bowlers. The rain can play a spoilsport too and thus the bowlers will try to take advantage of the wet outfield.

Playing Combinations for IRE vs IND

Ireland

The hosts need to put in place a good strategy in order to go past the Indian lineup. Their efforts were clearly seen in the first T20I, but they were not enough to tackle the visitors. Skipper Andrew Balbirnie might continue with the same combination, that is set in the conditions, in order to avoid any unforeseen risk.

Predicted Playing XI: Paul Stirling, Andrew Balbirnie (c), Gareth Delany, Harry Tector, Lorcan Tucker (wk), George Dockrell, Mark Adair, Andy McBrine, Craig Young, Joshua Little, Conor Olphert

India

India need to win the game in order to clinch the series by 2-0. With Ruturaj Gaikwad missing out on the second half of the first game, skipper Pandya might look for the best suitable replacement for him in the top order. Sanju Samson might play in the top order if Gaikwad misses the upcoming game with the rest of the lineup expected to remain the same.

Predicted Playing XI: Ruturaj Gaikwad/Sanju Samson, Ishan Kishan, Deepak Hooda, Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya (c), Dinesh Karthik (wk), Axar Patel, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Avesh Khan, Yuzvendra Chahal, Umran Malik
