South Africa have won the third and final ODI of the three-match series against Ireland. With this, the series ended with a 1-1 scoreline. Ireland earlier defeated South Africa for the first time in ODIs during the second game. Janneman Malan and Quinton de Kock played superb knocks for the visitors. For the home team, Simi Singh slammed a hundred batting at number 8 but it was too late to get a win.

Big records for Janneman Malan

177 – Janneman Malan smashed 177 runs off 169 balls in this match. This is the fourth-highest individual score for South Africa in ODIs.

169 – Malan faced 169 balls in his marathon innings, which is the most by a Proteas batsman in ODIs. Before him, Jacques Kallis faced 160 balls against India in 2006.

1990 – Since 1990, only Rohit Sharma (264 off 173) and Ashish Bagai (137* off 172) have faced more deliveries than Malan in an ODI game.

483 – In his 6 innings played in the fifty-over format so far, Malan has aggregated 483 runs at an incredible average of 120.75. No other player had more runs in the first six innings, with Inzamam-ul-Haq the only other player with over 400 runs.

Quinton de Kock’s milestones

10000 – Quinton de Kock completed 10000 runs as wicketkeeper in international cricket during this match. He became the second South African and seventh overall player to reach the landmark.

1 – At the age of 28 Years and 211 days, Quinton de Kock became the youngest wicketkeeper to complete 10000 runs across formats. He left behind MS Dhoni (30 Years 99 days) in the record.

259 – The left-hander reached the milestone in 259 innings which also made him the quickest in this regard. Before him, Adam Gilchrist completed 10000 international runs as a wicketkeeper in 272 innings.

16 – The Proteas opener smashed his 16th ODI hundred, and equalled Adam Gilchrist in terms of most ODI tons as a wicketkeeper-opener.

2 – Overall, he is at the joint-second spot in terms of ODI tons as a wicketkeeper after Kumar Sangakkara (23).

225 – Quinton de Kock and Janneman Malan added 225 runs for the first wicket in the game. This is the second-highest opening partnership for South Africa in away ODIs.

Simi Singh’s feat

1 – Simi Singh slammed a wonderful century off 91 balls in the final ODI. He became the first-ever player to hit an ODI ton batting at number 8 or below. Before him, Chris Woakes and Sam Curran smashed 95 runs in an ODI inning at that position.
