Irfan Pathan has been playing for Jammu and Kashmir in the ongoing Ranji season and is guiding the youngsters along with it as well. His reading of the game is exceptional and the same was at fore in his prime at the international level. Having set up a plethora of batsmen during his career, Irfan loved the way Virat Kohli was set up by Australia in the third and final ODI at the MCG which the visitors won in the end.
In the 231-run chase, the Indian captain was batting well and it was no surprise that he was a key batsman with the openers failing to give a good start. Despite it being a slow pitch, Kohli adjusted himself accordingly and was looking good to take India home at one stage. But with the dot balls piling up, he got a little bit carried away and the hosts sensed a chance.
They set up a decent field for Kohli and frustrated him by stopping a single. Jhye Richardson bowled an outside the off-stump line and the batsman fished at a harmless delivery only to edge it to the wicket-keeper.
Fan mocks Pathan
Irfan Pathan absolutely loved the way Australia got Kohli’s wicket and lauded them for the same on his official Twiter account. “Well planned wicket of Virat by Aussie team, Stopping his single on the third man by putting a flying slip in place and bowling the line outside off stump,” he wrote.
However, one of the fans, unnecessarily, tried to take a jibe at Irfan and went on to say that MS Dhoni won’t pick him in the CSK team in the IPL. The comment was senseless as the fast bowler’s tweet had nothing to do with Dhoni. The fact that Dhoni and Pathan played together in the IPL in the same team made the fan comment about the same.
But Irfan clearly didn’t like it and straight away responded to the fan clearing that he played the game and succeeded purely on his talent and nothing else. “Apne dum pe Khela hoo jitnaa khela hoo. Kisi khilane ya nahi khilane se nahi (Whatever cricket I have played is due to my talent and not for anyone picking me in the team or not),” Irfan’s reply read.
Here’s the thread of the convo:

I just want former cricketers to tweet or express what actually should be spoken not on fear of anything. You are aware of harsha bhogle Sir type situation. They don't speak the truth. Virat played only 28 balls out of 82 in partnership. Thank u
