Irfan Pathan named skipper of Baroda for Vijay Hazare Trophy
In spite of his setback of not being picked in the Indian Premier League draft, all-rounder Irfan Pathan has been named as the captain of the Baroda side for the upcoming edition of the Vijay Hazare Trophy. Deepak Hooda has been named as Pathan’s deputy with a few big names as well as new faces introduced into the squad as well. This makes it a side with decently balanced proportions.
In spite of being an integral part of the Indian Premier League in recent times, Pathan has been one of those players that includes Ishant Sharma to be frozen out of the IPL. Both players were also in the second round draft as well, only to find themselves frozen out. Both players, heavily touted to make it to the top were eventually not a part of the auctioneer’s sale.
However, despite all of this, the one thing that these two can perhaps do is focus on their cricket and see how they can get better. For Ishant Sharma in particular, he can see perhaps the best way to get back into the best form in Test cricket at the very least.
But, as far as Irfan Pathan is concerned, there will be a massive opportunity when it comes to his cricket and he will be hoping to find the best and the fastest way back into the Indian side. Krunal Pandya, the southpaw who set the stage ablaze for the Mumbai Indians is also a part of the side.
