India recently played against Pakistan in their T20 World Cup opener and the results turned out to be embarrassing as they slipped to a 10-wicket loss against them. In the same context, various fans started targeting Mohammed Shami for failing on that night against Pakistan. Many former Indian cricketers extended their support to Shami and Irfan Pathan was one of them.

In the latest turn of events, Pathan, who is an active person across social media platforms, came with a beautiful video clip of his father. The video showed his father narrating the incident when the Indian team returned victorious against Pakistan in 2004 and it was celebrated at his hometown Vadodara.

Pathan’s father stated that when the Indian team returned with a victory from Pakistan, the team also had Irfan as an active member of the team, and back then they used to live in Jamma Masjid. The whole city went to the terrace of the mosque with the Indian flag in hand and his father greeted all of them.

“Here is a little story from my father, when we came back victorious from the Pakistan tour in 2004. We use to live in Jamma Masjid. My father went to the terrace of the masjid with proudly holding Indian flag 🇮🇳 to greet all the fans who came to celebrate our victory on d field,” tweeted Irfan Pathan.

Irfan Pathan defended Mohammed Shami over his social media abuse

Pathan has served the Indian cricket team for a long time and was brilliant with his action. He was even declared as the player of the match during India’s clash against Pakistan in the final of T20 World Cup 2007 as he picked three wickets in the middle. He even defended Mohammed Shami recently when fans abused him on social media platforms.

“Even I was part of #IndvsPak battles on the field where we have lost but never been told to go to Pakistan! I’m talking about (Flag of India) of a few years back. THIS CRAP NEEDS TO STOP. #Shami,” said Pathan on Mohammed Shami being abused by fans across social media platforms.
