A time perfect complement for any Indian cricketer at the moment can be ‘you are so fit I am sure you will pass the yo-yo test’. The fitness test has proved to be quite a challenge even for the most athletic and young cricketers. Those who appear agile on the field and run fast between the wickets haven’t managed to clear the yo-yo hurdle. However, Indian all-rounder Irfan Pathan thinks a Bollywood superstar can certainly clear it.

Irfan who is now associated as the mentor cum player with the Jammu and Kashmir team for the upcoming domestic season tweeted today to wish Bollywood superstar Ranveer Singh on his 33rd birthday. He didn’t just wish Ranveer but also asked him to keep entertaining all his fans like always.

At the same time, the Baroda lad used quite a unique analogy to express the kind of vibe Ranveer has. Pathan at the start of his message wrote that the kind of energy the Bajirao Mastani actor has makes him certain that if he ever takes the yo-yo test he will get through with it pretty easily.

Here is Irfan’s tweet- “The kind of energy u have I’m sure u will pass the yo-yo test with ease;) Wish u a very happy birthday @RanveerOfficial keep entertaining all of us which u always do #birthday”

As far as the yo-yo test is concerned the Indian team management adopted it from other top teams like Australia. The challenge is to check not just basic fitness levels but the endurance abilities of the players that are tested not only when they are batting or bowling but also while on the field. The team has made it clear that this test is here to stay and the only way for a cricketer to qualify for selection is to hit the benchmark score of 16.1 in the yo-yo test.

Earlier today, Indian pacer Mohammed Shami who had failed it ahead of the historic Test match against Afghanistan reappeared for at the NCA and if only he clears it will be eligible to travel to England for the Test series.
