India and South Africa are battling it out in the first Test of the three-match series at the Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam. The South African team has been giving an apt reply to the home team thanks to amazing innings by Dean Elgar and Quinton de Kock. India had batted first after winning the toss and put on 502/7d.
In reply, South Africa had lost four easy wickets with Ashwin removing Markram and Theunis de Bruyn, while Ravindra Jadeja removed Dane Piedt, who had come out as night watchman for a duck. At 34/3, the Proteas found themselves in trouble at the end of the second day. With Dean Elgar still present at the crease, along with Temba Bavuma, much was expected by the duo on the third day.
Kohli asks Ishant to bowl an inswinger to Bavuma; gets him out LBW
Bavuma looked good hitting three boundaries in his 26-ball innings in which he scored 18 runs. He was supporting Elgar quite nicely, but India was looking for wickets and Ishant Sharma, skipper Virat Kohli and Mohammed Shami had a meeting mid-pitch on how to remove either of them and during that conversation, Kohli advised Ishant to bowl an inswinger to Bavuma, given that he was hanging on the backfoot expecting a bouncer.
Ishant agreed to the plan and bowled a length ball that came into the batsman sharply and trapped the South African vice-captain in the front. DRS showed that Bavuma was plumb in front of the wicket and had to walk back, while Ishant and Kohli celebrated after pulling off a plan successfully.

Meanwhile, Mayank Agarwal’s 215 and 176 from new opener Rohit Sharma helped India post a massive score in the first innings. In reply, Dean Elgar scored a well-crafted century in 175 balls which came by hitting a six, his fourth of the innings. He was well supported by Faf du Plessis, who made 55 and by Quinton de Kock, who has also completed his half-century. For India, R Ashwin picked three wickets.
