India fast bowler Ishant Sharma launched his official app today. The app is free on major online stores but charges for its premium services. The fast bowler joins the list of Virat Kohli, AB De Villiers and Sachin Tendulkar, who all have launched an official app in order to connect with their fans personally.
Ishant’s app is powered by Escapex. The app will ask the users to create a profile so that they could participate in various contests. The more active a person is, the more stars they will be awarded and the user with the most stars stand a chance to meet the Test star. On its opening day, Ishant announced a contest in which the users have to tell their best memories of watching Ishant in action and why it is significant to them. The 28-year old took to Twitter to announce the good news of his app’s launch.
The app has very few downloads so far though it has been just one day since it has been launched. This is a great initiative to interact with your fans who go out of their way in order to cheer their favourite stars.
Of late, Ishant has labelled as a Test specialist. He hasn’t played an ODI for more than 18 months now while his last T20 game for India came more than four years ago. He was initially left out in the IPL auctions but was later procured by Kings XI Punjab. The lanky fast bowler did not enjoy the best of seasons as he went wicketless in the 6 appearances he managed for his franchise last season.
Currently, Ishant is the most experienced player in the Test ranks. In 77 Test matches, the Delhi boy has 218 wickets to his name including 7 five-wicket hauls and a solitary ten-wicket match haul.
