Ishant Sharma reveals how he irritated MS Dhoni in the Qualifier of IPL 2019
The incident that happened in the second Qualifier of IPL 2019 where Delhi Capitals locked horns with Chennai Super Kings.
MS Dhoni is regarded as one of the most composed men on the cricket field. Along with his explosive batting and excellent glovework, the former Indian skipper is also known for his calm and composed approach while captaining any side. The ‘Captain Cool’ is often seen calm on the field. However, on occasions, he has failed to control his anger on the field.
On several instances, MS Dhoni has lost his cool and has expressed his emotions on the field. One such instance happened in the previous edition of IPL when pacer Ishant Sharma smashed 10 runs off Ravindra Jadeja‘s deliveries. Ishant Sharma, while recalling the incident, revealed how Dhoni had taunted him before the incident by saying that the lanky pacer cannot hit a six.
The speedster responded to Dhoni’s taunt by hitting Jadeja for a six and a four, before looking back at the CSK skipper, who was behind the stumps. Dhoni wasn’t impressed with Jadeja and he was furious with the all-rounder’s bowling. Ishant also revealed that Dhoni was irritated with Jadeja’s bowling as soon as the pacer smashed boundaries against him.
‘Mahi bhai used to make fun of me’: Ishant Sharma
“Last year in the IPL, Mahi bhai (Dhoni) used to make fun of me that I can’t hit sixes, saying you don’t have that ability. Then came Jaddu (Jadeja) and I punished him for a four and then I launched a six. Then I turned my head towards Mahi bhai to see his reaction, who looked irritated with Jaddu,” he told Gaurav Kapur on a youtube show Isolation Premier League.
The incident that happened in the second Qualifier of IPL 2019 where Delhi Capitals locked horns with Chennai Super Kings. Ishant walked on to the crease with just three deliveries left in Capitals’ innings. Despite failing to score on the first ball, Ishant retaliated by hitting 10 runs on the next two deliveries and helping his side to post 147 runs on the scoreboard.
Coming on to Chennai Super Kings’ run chase, the MS Dhoni-led side was unperturbed by the total as they achieved the total in 19 overs with six wickets in hands. Shane Watson and Faf du Plessis scored half-centuries to propel their side into the final of the tournament. However, to their disdain, the Yellow Army suffered a one-run defeat in the final of the tournament against Mumbai Indians.
