There have been many instances when a match has been interrupted due to some unusual occurrences, and something bizarre was witnessed during the 60th match of the IPL 2022 between the Royal Challengers Bangalore and the Punjab Kings. It happened during the second innings of the game when RCB openers Faf du Plessis and Virat Kohli were out in the middle and a black cat sat on the sightscreen for a few moments before making a move.

On Friday at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai, PBKS set a difficult target for RCB to chase after the former was put in to bat first. Chasing 210 runs, the skipper started off great for his side by hitting a boundary off the third ball, before the play was interrupted due to a strange reason.

Faf was the first to notice it as he was on strike and the cat strolled over the top of the sightscreen before settling. He didn’t want the disruption on the field, so he requested that the game be stopped for a while. After a few seconds, the cat began to move, and the umpires requested that the game be resumed.

Here’s the video of the incidence:

Punjab put up a whopping 210 runs for RCB to chase

Speaking of the game, Punjab Kings got off to a great start after RCB won the toss and elected to chase. Jonny Bairstow was in an amazing form as he punished the RCB bowlers for multiple boundaries to take their team’s powerplay total to 83/1. His fellow opener Dhawan could not stand for long and had to walk back to the pavillion when Glenn Maxwell got his team the breakthrough.

PBKS faced a mini-collapse as Bhanuka Rajapaksa and Bairstow walked off soon after Dhawan’s dismissal, but the latter had managed to hit a quick-fire 66 runs in just 29 balls. But what followed next looked like RCB’s nightmare coming true. PBKS’ prolific all-rounder and the team’s saviour Liam Livingstone walked out to create destruction on the field.

He was unstoppable, as he carried on to bat during the middle overs and lasted till the final over of the inning, thereby scoring a blistering 42-ball 70 before being dismissed by Harshal Patel. The final over witnessed three players being dismissed, but the wickets did not create much of a problem for PBKS as they had crossed the 200-run mark on the scoreboard and ended the innings at 209/9.

Meanwhile, Twitter found the funnier side of the incident related to the black cat and came up with different kinds of reactions. Some also hilariously predicted that RCB might lose the game due to the cat.
