'It is a really bad attitude' - Inzamam-ul-Haq lashes out at PCB medical staff for not attending calls of COVID-19 positive players
Pakistan team will fly to England on June 28 for their series which starts in August.
Pakistan cricket team has been in shock completely after several of its players were tested positive with the novel coronavirus. The COVID-19 infection has been spread all over the world and it can be said that it has now entered the camp of the Pakistan team as well. The team is supposed to leave for England on June 28 for their tour of three Tests and three T20Is.
Shadab Khan, Haris Rauf, and Haider Ali were the first ones to be tested positive on Monday. A day later, the tests of Fakhar Zaman, Imran Khan, Kashif Bhatti, Mohammad Hafeez, Mohammad Hasnain, Mohammad Rizwan, and Wahab Riaz also turned out to be positive. Amidst all this, former Pakistan captain Inzamam-ul-Haq has slammed the medical staff of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
PCB’s medical staff did not attend calls of these players: Inzamam-ul-Haq
In his latest YouTube video, the former player has openly criticized the medical team and called their attitude ‘really bad.’
“The players who have tested positive would have thought that PCB is not supporting them at this difficult time. My sources have told me that the PCB’s medical staff did not attend calls of these players during the past couple of days, which is a really bad attitude,” said Inzamam on his YouTube channel.
There was also a case where senior cricketer Mohammad Hafeez has privately organized his testing. Inzamam was of the opinion that if the PCB doesn’t take charge of everything, then cases like this will happen. He also suggested that the players should be kept at the NCA rather than isolating themselves at home.
“I would request the PCB to properly look after these players because if you don’t then incidents, like Hafeez getting himself tested privately, will happen. PCB should have kept these players [who tested positive] at the NCA, because there is enough space there, rather than telling them to self-isolate at their homes. They are our players and we need to look after them so that they can fully recover,” Inzamam added.
Before this, former Pakistan batsman Taufeeq Umar had contracted the COVID-19 infection. Former captain Shahid Afridi was also tested positive with the COVID-19. With so many players down with the infection, PCB has announced that the team will leave for England as scheduled. The series will start in England in August.
