It is a very big deal to play for India at the age of 18, says Shikhar Dhawan about Prithvi Shaw
Dhawan lost his place to the youngster following a poor Test series in England.
Shikhar Dhawan, the dynamic Indian opener, hasn’t been in the best of his colours off late. His lack of form cost him his place in the Indian Test squad for the recently concluded series against Windies, in which the 18-year old Prithvi Shaw replaced him. In the ongoing ODI series against the same team, Dhawan got a few decent starts, but unfortunately for him, he failed to convert them into big scores.
Shikhar and his wife Aesha recently started a new business, which they named as ‘DA One Home’. He also spilt some beans about the same during the promotional event. However, the flamboyant opener was impressed with the young Prithvi Shaw, who took his place in the Indian Test squad.
He is a great talent
On being asked to comment on the 18-year-old, Shikhar Dhawan was nothing but all praise about Shaw. The explosive opener said it is a big deal to play for India at the age of 18 years. He feels Prithvi grabbed the opportunity with both his hands as he scored a jaw-dropping century on his debut.
”He is a great talent and it is a very big thing to play for India at the age of 18, and at the same time, doing so well in his Test debut. I wish him luck. To play for India at the age of 18 is a very big deal,” Dhawan was quoted as saying by The Quint.
“Not just me, there are so many players who get to play for India at 25 or 26 but he made his debut at 18 and also scored a century. It’s a very big deal,” he said. It is a very heartening gesture from Shikhar Dhawan as he spoke highly of Prithvi Shaw, without displaying a shade of disappointment on losing his spot in the team.
