Glenn Maxwell, the Australian all-rounder, was devastated after Aaron Finch’s wife Amy Griffiths was greeted with some nasty comments about her husband on social media. Both Finch and Maxwell are currently plying their trade in the five-match T20I series against New Zealand. The Aussies lost the first two games in Christchurch and Dunedin and are trailing by 0-2.
Finch’s own form hasn’t been great as he managed a single in the opening game at the Hagley Oval followed by a 14-ball 12 at the University Oval. He, therefore, was a recipient of severe backlash. Maxwell, who hasn’t had the best of outings either with the bat in hand, termed the incident ‘disgraceful’ and asked the netizens to have some decency.

Earlier, one of the fans turned up with a scathing message, asking Finch to improve on his captaincy. The comment read, “Tell your husband to step up his captaincy bloody loser f**king a**hole b*tch because of him I lost all my money.”
Thereafter, Finch’s wife lashed out at the troll with a fitting response. “Part of me doesn’t want to give this individual the satisfaction of a response. I don’t appreciate it, neither does my husband who is battling and doing everything he possibly can to get back into the runs.
“Honestly, these keyboard warriors need to go get a bloody life. This isn’t even one of the worst that has come my way but I’ve had enough!” she wrote.
Finch was in decent form during Australia’s limited-overs series against India. However, from there on, he has gone into a slump. Apart from his woes at the highest level, the Victorian also strained to perform for the Melbourne Renegades in the 2020-21 Big Bash League (BBL).
The Renegades finished at the bottom half of the table and couldn’t make the playoffs. As far as the ongoing tour of New Zealand is concerned, the third T20I is scheduled to be played on Wednesday, March 3 at the Westpac Stadium in Wellington.
