The Indian Premier League and the Pakistan Super League are looked upon as two of the biggest franchise-cricket leagues currently. There have always been comparisons between the two. Every cricketer, who plays for both league tournaments, goes through this one common question of which league is better- the IPL or the PSL.

Cricketers have gotten into arguments while discussing this topic, and recently former Pakistan cricketer Danish Kaneria joined the trend and opined his views on the IPL-PSL debate. The veteran has not played either the IPL or the PSL but he had quite a few things to say.

The IPL has given rise to many big names from the cricket fraternity, and Kaneria praised the Indian Premier League calling it ‘professional’. He was of a total opposite opinion in the case of the PSL and called the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) ‘unprofessional’ to have not supported the extraordinary performers of the tournament.

Calling PCB unprofessional, Kaneria favoured the IPL

“Being a very professional event, IPL is providing so many talents to Indian cricket. And it’s getting better and better with each passing season, while PSL is doing hardly anything for Pakistan cricket. If some player performs well in PSL, the unprofessional approach of Pakistan Cricket Board mars his chances of getting into the national side,” Kaneria said according to Hindustan Times.

When asked to pick the title favourites of IPL 2022, the former Pakistan leg-spinner felt CSK and MI are good teams but also asserted that no team is favourite in the shortest format. “See, there are no favorites in the T20 format. But if we talk about the combination, Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians are good. There are two new teams in this edition, and you cannot take them lightly.

“IPL is a tournament in which all the cricketers want to play. You see, many players from South Africa took leave from their national side to play in the IPL. So this is turning out to be a big event every single year,” he added.

The IPL 2022 began on March 26 and has witnessed three clashes so far, between CSK & KKR, MI & DC, and RCB & PBKS. The final of the tournament is set to be played on May 29.
