'It is important that we don't overplay that too much' - Australia skipper Aaron Finch on facing Jasprit Bumrah

Jasprit Bumrah will be one of the biggest threat for Australia when they take on India later this month and their skipper Aaron Finch is well aware of that. The Men in Blue will host the team from down under for three ODIs, starting from January 14 in Mumbai. The Aaron Finch-led side will be keen to replicate their performance of last year in India but Bumrah’s presence might make things tougher for them.

Australia had registered a famous ODI series win last year against India, winning the five-match contest 3-2 after losing the first two games. With form and momentum with them, Australia will be looking to do well against India once again although Bumrah can jeopardise their plans. Well, Finch is well aware of the threat posed by the India pace spearhead but said that it is important for his side not to overplay that factor.

“I think, more and more guys face him, the more exposure you get, the more you start to understand how he bowls. So it is important that we don’t overplay that too much,” Finch told the media as quoted by Hindustan Times.

“He is obviously a fantastic bowler and someone who, when you are not playing against him, you love watching him bowl. He is fast and aggressive and his execution is pretty spot on. It is more about focusing on what we are as a batting unit against that and each player has different strengths and weaknesses. So (we are doing) what we have to do for mentally being prepared for that challenge,” added Finch who will face Bumrah at the start of the innings.

An average comeback for Jasprit Bumrah

What can make things easier for Australia is the fact that Jasprit Bumrah recently returned to action after a lengthy injury lay off. The right-arm pacer has returned to international cricket through the ongoing T20I series against Sri Lanka after missing more than three months of action due to a back issue.

Not very surprisingly, he did not look at his best during the second T20I against the islanders. Bumrah conceded 32 runs in his four overs and picked up one wicket although India went on to win the game by seven wickets.
