Umran Malik has caught the attention of the cricketing world with his raw pace in the 2021 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The 21-year-old Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) pacer has breached the 150 kmph mark on a consistent basis with the ball in hand, and batsmen have found it difficult to face the missiles that Malik sends down at tremendous speed.

And now, the captain of the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) side, Virat Kohli feels that it is nice to see a bowler hurling the ball at a speed of 150 kmph. The RCB skipper also added that it is important to understand the progress of bowlers like Malik.

Virat Kohli further stated that having a strong pool of fast bowlers is a good sign for the Indian cricket team. Kohli also opined that whenever a talent like Umran Malik is spotted, it is important to constantly keep an eye on them to maximise their potential.

“The pool of fast bowlers being strong is always a good sign for Indian cricket and whenever you see talent like this, you are going to have your eyes on them and make sure you maximise their potential which is already being seen at the IPL level,” concluded Virat Kohli.

SRH skipper Kane Williamson also showered praises on Umran Malik and called the pacer a ‘special’ player. Adding that it is not surprising for him to see Malik perform well, Williamson concluded by stating that Malik is a valuable addition to the SRH side.

“Umran certainly is special. We’ve seen him in the nets for a couple of seasons. Special opportunity for him and it’s not surprising to see him come and do well. He has been a really valuable addition to the side,” concluded the SRH skipper.
