After being on sabbatical from the game of cricket due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic for more than five months, Indian cricket team skipper Virat Kohli is training hard in the grounds of Dubai to make his IPL franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore win its maiden T20 title in the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League. The tournament is slated to begin from September 19 across three venues namely Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Sharjah.
In the view of the COVID-19 outbreak, RCB is adhering to all the strict safety protocols laid out by the Board of Control for Cricket in India in its elaborate Standard Operation Procedure for IPL 2020. The team is having intense training sessions in batches with proper sanitization to ensure the safety of all its players and support staff.
On September 3, skipper Kohli took to his official Instagram handle to share a glimpse of his training sessions. The Delhi Stalwart shared three pictures in which he was batting, playing football, and enjoying an ice bath respectively. The post garnered a lot of likes and comments in a very short span of time.
Kevin Pietersen takes a friendly jibe on Virat Kohli
However, former England and RCB batsman Kevin Pietersen seemed unimpressed with the skipper’s batting approach. Calling out Kohli for playing a defensive shot, Pietersen told him to get out of the Test match phase and start preparing for the T20 matches.
Kevin teased Virat Kohli, saying, “Get on with it please! T20 not a Test Match!”. The RCB skipper was quick to give it back to KP, writing, “You seem bored mate. Get onto the bike again.”
While, on the other hand, Tottenham Hotspur striker and a close friend of Virat Kohli, Harry Kane lauded the cricketer for his football skills. Kane commented, “Nice technique right there,”
To this Kohli replied that as it is coming from a legend like Kane, then this must be a legit observation. Virat replied, “haha thanks mate. Coming from a technically gifted player like yourself, I know it’s legit observation.”
