'It is the mind that leads to technical errors' - Sachin Tendulkar on Virat Kohli's form in England

Team India registered a memorable win at Lord’s on Monday beating England by 151 runs. Things turned dramatically on the final day thanks to India’s bowlers who batted well too and then skittled the home team within 52 overs to create history. Despite taking the lead in the five-match series, there are a few issues which team India has to look to resolve and one of their concerns is skipper Virat Kohli‘s form.

The Indian captain has looked good on an odd occasion but is yet to make an impact in the ongoing England tour. In the three innings so far, Kohli has scored only 62 runs and his vulnerability outside the off-stump is there for everyone to see. All the three times, he has got out behind the wickets to three different bowlers – James Anderson, Ollie Robinson and Sam Curran.

Former India cricketer Sachin Tendulkar has given his opinion on the matter and reckons that Virat Kohli has it in his mind at the moment which is exposing him technically. According to him, these things happen with everyone and to overcome that batsmen tend to over compensate in their movements and this is what is hurting Kohli at the moment.

“Virat hasn’t had a great start. It is the mind that leads to technical errors and if the start isn’t good you start thinking about a lot of things. Because anxiety levels are high you tend to over compensate your movements. When a batsman isn’t in good form you either go too far across or don’t move your feet at all. That happens to everyone. Form is also your state of mind along with the body working in harmony,” Sachin said according to News18.

Sachin Tendulkar, meanwhile, is also impressed with the way Rohit Sharma has been batting in Test ever since he has started to open the innings. He also pointed out that Rohit has left the ball really well and has had impeccable defence in both the Tests so far.

“Whatever I have seen, I feel, he has taken the lead and he has shown the other side of his temperament and how he can change his game and adapt to situation and play accordingly. He has been a leader there and KL has supported him brilliantly. As far as playing pull shot is concerned, he has cleared the fence with that shot and I am looking at what he has been able to achieve for the team in both Tests.

“Rohit has left the ball and defended the ball brilliantly or equally well. He was always a fantastic player but seeing his last few innings in England, I can say he has definitely gone a notch higher,” Tendulkar added.
