Pakistan’s fierce pacer Mohammad Amir recently signed up with Gloucestershire county cricket club to replace injured Naseem Shah. Amir, who has been a stellar exponent of swing bowling, picked up maiden wickets for his side on May 5 and it stirred the talks of him returning to the longest format of the game. It is to be noted that the left-arm pacer is back in the arena of first-class cricket after two-and-a-half years of announcing his Test retirement.

With age by his side, it was inevitable that he would be asked questions on his Test return upon performing in the first-class setup. However, the pacer added that it will be too early to talk of Test return as of now, and currently, he is just enjoying his stint with Gloucestershire.

“It is too early to talk about a Test return. You never know and things can be changed but for now, I’m enjoying playing for Gloucestershire,” said Amir as quoted ESPNcricinfo.

As a bowler, it is my duty to bowl well and lead from the front: Mohammad Amir

Amir bowled 28 overs on his debut while playing against Surrey and rolled his arm for 21 overs while playing on day one against Hampshire. Though he mostly operates with the new ball, it is interesting to see that all of his wickets (three) so far have come with the old ball.

“I am playing after three years so it isn’t easy as a fast bowler. I didn’t play any first-class cricket in the last four years but I am getting better after the first game and just trying to help the boys and do well for them. As a bowler it is my duty to bowl well and lead from the front, so that is what I’m trying to do,” he added.

Amir retired from Pakistan cricket two years back amid controversial circumstances but he made sure to give nightmares to even the biggest of batters across the world during his prime days.
