MS Dhoni, the veteran cricketer from India, is one of the influential players of the game across the globe. He is also recognized as one of the best finishers in cricket. It has been quite some time that the Indian gloveman has donned Indian jersey and the fans are eagerly waiting for his comeback into the national squad. And, now Dhoni has come up with an important opinion over the art of finishing games for his side.
In his absence, Rishabh Pant is handling the responsibility behind the stumps for Men in Blue. Pant is yet to prove his mantle in the team. The 38-year-old is also regarded as one of the most successful skippers in the history of Indian cricket. In the major part of his career, he has played at the 5th or 6th position in the team according to the demand of match situations. Also, on most of the occasions, he succeeded in ending the innings on a high note if batting first or winning the match from a difficult position during the chase.
MS Dhoni expresses his views
Recently, MS Dhoni attended a promotional event in Haryana’s Gurugram, where he expressed his views on his batting style. He said it is very important to follow the basics along with a practical approach. There is a set margin when batting at number 6 in which there is very little time available to get settled down as a batter usually gets 15 to 20 balls to play. And, he has to make the most out of it.
“It is very important to have a practical approach. If I’m batting at number 6 and play 15 balls, I know if I score 25-30 runs, it is very good, outstanding performance. But at the same time, there can be hindrances. You think about scoring for your team and go for big hits, it may also cost you a wicket. So you will have to practically set up what your target is,” the Indian gloveman said as quoted by India TV.
He also recited that one should not throw their wicket in an attempt of going for big shots and, everyone should have a defined target in the back of their minds. Dhoni feels that one should only go with the controllable things and the process for it is very important in order to succeed.
“As I already said, it is important to focus on controllable things. You have to work on it, and the process is very important to succeed,” he added.
