Shardul Thakur created controversy in his debut intl game by wearing No. 10 jersey.
Shardul Thakur made his international debut in 2017 in an ODI against Sri Lanka. He represented Team India in 5 ODI matches but his unsatisfactory efforts with the ball led him to stay out of the team. Mumbai cricketer plays for Chennai Super Kings and has played quite a few cameos with the bat as well and made them win matches with his brilliant bowling.
On 16th October, he turned 28 and fans came out in order to wish him on social media and Rohit Sharma also wished his Ranji mate but in a cheeky manner. The day Shardul kept his feet in the International circuit, he was caught in an unexpected controversy.

Actually, Shardul wore jersey number 10 in his debut game. It was a number that India’s legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar used to wear. People displayed their emotions by coming out with conflicting opinions and criticized him for wearing that number.
Indian fans are very emotive about number 10 jersey as it was worn by Sachin who is also known as “God of Cricket” in India. The situation for Shardul went berserk when fans asked him to also change his initials “ST”. Later, Mumbai-born cricketer came out with a clarification that he had picked the number due to numerological reasons. But, was forced to change his number from 10 to 54.
Currently, he is in Mumbai squad featuring in Vijay Hazare Trophy 2019-20. In his five appearances, he has impressed everyone with his bowling by taking 9 wickets. Taking this fact into an account Indian Hitman who looked in full form didn’t lose a chance to pull Shardul’s leg.
In order to wish him on his special day, Rohit took to his Twitter handle and wrote, “Many happy returns of the day buddy. Only the second player to wear the jersey. It takes guts to don that number but clearly you’re the best example of Impossible Is Nothing. @imShard.”
