The Indian skipper showed no mercy in unleashing all his complaints against Australia in the press conference after the culmination of the second Test at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. Not only did he address Australia’s wrongfulness in consulting the dressing room for DRS, he also reverted to Ian Healy’s comment on Kohli being too aggressive on the field.

“I pointed it out to the umpires and twice I have seen their players looking up there for information and that’s why I was adamant. When he turned back that’s why the umpires knew what was going on, we told the umpires they had been doing that for the last three days and that had to stop,” Kohli said, expressing frustration.

But the visiting captain Steve Smith begged to differ and called the blunder he made ‘a bit of brain fade’

“I obviously got hit on the pad and looked down to Petey [Handscomb], and Petey sort of said: ‘Looked out’,” said Smith after the game. “I turned around [to the dressing room] and said: ‘What do you reckon’? It was a bit of brain fade on my behalf. I shouldn’t have done that. I was looking at my boys, and shouldn’t have done that. I think it was the first time it’s happened.”

The incident unfolded when Australia were 74 for 3, in pursuit of 188 to win. Umesh Yadav struck Steven Smith, on the pad just inches above the ground. It appeared plumb, and the umpire’s finger went up right away. But with one review remaining, the visiting captain went towards the non-striker Peter Handscomb, to ask for his opinion. But then, he was seen turning in the direction of the dressing room to take the help from support staff. But the umpire Nigel Llong wasn’t happy with Smith looking at the dressing room and asked Smith to walk off the ground.

Whether it was a brain fade or not, Smith will ensure he does not repeat the mistake again.
