'It was a good chance' - Rohit Sharma feels he would've scored 200 in Indore T20I against Sri Lanka in 2017
More than seven overs were still left when Rohit got out on 118 off just 43 deliveries.
Rohit Sharma is currently spending time with his family while in quarantine. These days he is not busy playing cricket but is active on the social media platform. Recently, he was involved in a live session on the Mumbai Indians’ Instagram page. During that interaction, the 33-year-old revealed that he missed out on scoring a double ton in a T20I game back in 2017.
The 33-year-old holds the record for scoring most double centuries in ODIs. The Indian Hitman scores double tons like it is a cakewalk for him. Coming onto the shorter format, there is no batsman until now, who has managed to cross the 200-run mark. However, the fans expect that Rohit Sharma is one of the batsmen in the world who has the skill sets to breach the barrier in the T20 format.
Rohit Sharma had scored a 35-ball ton in the game
In a live Instagram video session, he opened up over the same and said that he missed out on a big opportunity to score a double century in a T20I against Sri Lanka back in 2017. As per him, in that match, he had a good chance of scoring 200 runs. The 33-year-old added that when he got out there were still 9 overs left in the inning.
Currently, the record for highest individual score in a T20I game is held by Aaron Finch, who played a blistering knock of 172-runs against Zimbabwe. In the end, he recited that it was a fine chance but he is still happy to able to score the joint-fastest T20I century in international cricket. David Miller also holds the record as he had slammed a ton in 35 against Bangladesh in October 2017.
“In that game, I had a good chance to maybe make 200 also. When I got out there were still more than 9 overs (seven) left. So it was a good chance but fine, 35-ball 100 — I will take that,” the 33-year-old said in an Instagram Live video on Mumbai Indians page.
As far as the match is concerned, Team India scored a mammoth total of 260 runs on the back of the ferocious knock played by Rohit Sharma (118 runs off 43 balls). In reply to it, Sri Lanka were bundled out for just 172 in the 18th over.
