'It was more erratic' - Brad Hogg picks Sachin Tendulkar-Shoaib Akhtar battle as his favourite
Akhtar was the quickest bowler of his time and had successfully knocked down Sachin's wicket quite a few times.
The coronavirus outbreak has caused a stop in all sporting events across the globe. The COVID-19 has caused death to around 60,000 people across the world and has affected more than 11 lakh people. With no matches to look forward, the cricketers are keeping their fans entertained by engaging with them through social media.
Former Australian spinner Brad Hogg is one of the few players who has been chatting with his fans quite regularly during this quarantine time. On Thursday, he conducted Questions and Answer session with his fans on Twitter. He was asked many questions and he graciously answered them.
A fan asked him which contest did he enjoy more, was it Sachin-McGrath and Sachin-Akhtar. The fan tweeted, “@Brad_Hogg Sachin vs McGrath or Sachin vs Akhtar Which one is your favourite rivalry? #Hoggytime”
Like a diplomatic person which Brad Hogg has always been, he answered saying that the contest between Sachin and McGrath was a war of attrition. He mentioned that it was the game of patience, so one could witness two of them fighting in the long haul.
However, Hogg had a different viewpoint regarding the rivalry between Sachin and Akhtar. He said that Shoaib would try to blast Tendulkar with his massive, very unlike that of McGrath. He finally chose the battle between Akhtar and Sachin as his favourite. He had pointed out that just because it was a part of the India-Pakistan rivalry, the contest between Tendulkar and Shoaib was a bit more interesting.
“Sachin v McGrath a war of attrition McGrath trying to win the patience game, you are in for the long haul. Sachin v Akhtar more erratic, with Akhtar trying to blast him out with sheer pace + it’s India v Pak, which adds a little more spice to the contest. 2nd one. #Hoggytime” the former leg-spinner tweeted.
Shoaib Akhtar was the quickest bowler of his time and had successfully knocked down Sachin’s wicket quite a few times. However, Sachin has also scored heavily from the bowling both above mentioned bowlers. Sachin Tendulkar ended his career with 100 centuries while Akhtar was one of the few bowlers to have bowled at a speed of 100 mph.
