'It was straight and plumb' - Brian Lara baffled by Kedar Jadhav's DRS call after being adjudged LBW
Kedar Jadhav was caught plumb in front of the stumps by South African pacer Anrich Nortje.
Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) batsman Kedar Jadhav produced a disappointing performance in the 33rd match of the IPL against the Delhi Capitals (DC). Jadhav consumed 8 balls to score 3 runs before he was dismissed by Anirch Nortje.
The right-hander was caught plumb in front of the stumps by the South African pacer, and was adjudged LBW. Jadhav reviewed the decision. And, replays showed that the ball would have crashed onto the middle stump.
West Indies legend Brian Lara is surprised that Jadhav went for a review. Adding that Jadhav’s act of going upstairs was unbelievable, Lara opined that there was no need to review the decision.
“Why would he need to review that? To actually go and ask for that referral was unbelievable. We couldn’t believe it. We were like ‘what is he doing’,” said Lara in a chat with Star Sports.
Anrich Nortje and Kagiso Rabada have come into the IPL in good shape: Brian Lara
Brian Lara also stated that the likes of Anrich Nortje and Kagiso Rabada have come into the second leg of the IPL in very good shape. Adding that Nortje is someone who does not give the batsman much room, Lara concluded by stating that Jadhav’s wicket was absolutely plumb.
“It shows the fact that those guys were playing cricket for South Africa and they came into the IPL in good shape. He is a sharp bowler. What is also very important is that he bowls straight and doesn’t give you much room. And that wicket was typical. Straight and plumb,” concluded Lara.
The Delhi Capitals (DC) produced a stellar performance on the field, and thrashed the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) side with 8 wickets to spare in their opening match of IPL Phase 2. The Rishabh Pant led side is currently occupying the top spot in the points table.
Brian Lara is one of the greatest batsmen to have played the game of cricket. The left-handed batting icon represented the West Indies side in 131 Tests and 299 ODIs. While he amassed 11953 runs in Test match cricket, Lara plundered a staggering 10405 runs in the ODI format of the game. The 52-year-old is also the only batsman in the history of the game to have scored a quadruple century in Test match cricket.
