It will be miracle if Pakistan wins even one match in England: Saeed Ajmal

Pakistan is all set to resume international cricket with a Test series against England. They have already reached the UK and are currently training in quarantine with the three-match Test series commencing from August 5. England, the hosts, are currently busy playing against the West Indies and they are scheduled to face Ireland in the three ODIs before facing Pakistan.

As far as the visitors are concerned, the players weren’t allowed to train in Pakistan due to the COVID-19 situation in the country. For the same reason, they reached England early and started training in a bio-secure environment. But the former Pakistan cricketer Saeed Ajmal feels it will be tough for the players of his country to win even a single game on the tour.

Ajmal pointed out that the team is very much inexperienced to compete in the conditions in England while also prayed that they do well on the tour. “[The] Pakistan team consists of young players, [the] England series will be difficult for them.

“It does not seem possible for Pakistan to win the series. It would be a miracle, if Pakistan even wins one match. As a Pakistani, I pray that the national team performs well in the series,” he was quoted as saying by Ary Sports. Interestingly, the touring party had levelled the two-match Test series last time they faced England in their own backyard.

Pakistan will also play three T20Is on the tour

As for the schedule, the first Test between Pakistan and England is set to start on August 5 at the Old Trafford in Manchester. The next two matches will be played in Southampton starting on August 13 and 21 respectively. Both the teams are supposed to lock horns in the three T20 Internationals also after the Tests with all the matches set to be played at the Old Trafford again.

Old Trafford and The Rose Bowl have been identified as the bio-secure venues for England’s international summer this year due to the pandemic. The three T20Is will be played August 28, 30 and September 1 when Pakistan’s long tour will conclude.
