One of the biggest changes that have come in Indian cricket in this decade has been a cultural change as far as fitness is concerned. Led by their charismatic captain, Virat Kohli, who is not only the fittest cricketer in the country but also in the world, each and every player of the Indian Cricket team is a fitness freak. And, it shows on their on-field performance.
It shows in the manner the batsmen run between the wickets; the manner in which the bowlers sprint even in their second or third spell of a Test match or how the fielders chase the ball as if their life depends on it. This is a new Team India. A fitness freak Team India. An India whose captain has instilled a fitness culture in their set-up; something which will be Virat Kohli’s biggest legacy when he leaves the game post his retirement despite all the hundreds or the runs that he racks up.
The Indian Cricket team goes through various drills before the actual game and Virat Kohli took to Twitter on Monday to share a photograph, where he can be seen doing a sprinting session with wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant and all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja. It was not a surprise that the charismatic all-rounder was leading the race with aplomb, something which Kohli too acknowledged when he said that it is almost impossible to outrun Jadeja whenever he is in the group.
“Love group conditioning sessions. And when Jaddu is in the group, it’s almost impossible to outrun him,” Kohli tweeted.
Virat Kohli expresses satisfaction over the staging of Day-Night Test
Meanwhile, the Indian captain has expressed his satisfaction over the successful staging of the historic Pink Ball Test at the Eden Gardens, stating that this was something that his team wanted to do for Test cricket.
“I am relaxed, relieved and happy. We wanted to do this for Test cricket. It is so important. People were not turning up for Test cricket. We did a lot of things (promotion) during and before this Test. It was sold out all throughout even today though the game was expected to finish early.” Kohli said as quoted by TimesNow.
Meanwhile, this was India’s last Test assignment of the decade. The Men in Bue will finish the year 2019 as the only undefeated side in the world, having won seven of the eight games that they played.
Here’s what Kohli tweeted-
