'It's like a fantasy for me' - Jemimah Rodrigues eager to play under MS Dhoni's captaincy
Jemimah Rodrigues recently came live on Instagram with the cricket presenter Ridhima Pathak.
MS Dhoni is one of the most celebrated captains in International cricket. What Dhoni has achieved during his captaincy tenure is remarkable and unmatched! He is the only captain to win all three ICC events – T20 World Cup, a 50-over World cup and the Champions Trophy. So, basically, the former Indian captain has won each and every accolade of ICC. Apart from this, several players have praised his calming influence on a team and its players, which helps to bring out the best in them.
And it goes without saying that a young India cricketer Jemimah Rodrigues admires him a lot. Jemimah is one of the key members of the Indian women’s team and has impressed everyone with her batting skills and cemented her spot in the team. Apart from this, the 19-year-old is also quite active on social media.
I don’t know if it’s possible, says Jemimah on playing under MS Dhoni
In a recent Instagram live session with the cricket presenter Ridhima Pathak, she was asked if she could play under a male captain, who would that be. Rodrigues chose MS Dhoni as the male captain she would like to play under. She revealed that she has grown up watching him and his achievements as the leader is the reason that she wants to play in his team. She also said that it’s her fantasy to play under MS Dhoni.
“None other than MS Dhoni. You have grown up watching him and what he did in the World Cups, winning those two World Cups. We have heard so much in interviews and so many people say that they have never seen a captain like MS Dhoni. So, it’s always like a fantasy that one day I’ll get to play under him, but I don’t know if that’s possible,” said Jemimah.
Rodrigues made her international debut in 2018 and since then she has been a regular part of the national team. In 18 ODIs, he has scored 372 runs with three fifties. In 44 T20Is, she has scored 930 runs at an average of 26.57 and a strike-rate of 111.24.
