Jacques Kallis doesn’t feel Kuldeep’s form is anything to worry about in World Cup

He is one of India’s two bowlers who have five-wicket hauls in all three formats of the game. Kolkata Knight Riders’ (KKR) Chinaman bowler Kuldeep Yadav has been one of India’s sensational spinners over the last several months, helping the side do good on overseas tours. However, the 24-year-old Uttar Pradesh cricketer is having a horrible run in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2019 as he could manage only four wickets in nine matches so far.

Understandably, the fans are worried about one of the major bowling weapons that India will carry into the World Cup starting May 30. After a successful stint in the tournament last year when he took 17 wickets in 16 matches, Kuldeep has been a complete disappointment this year so much so that he even got dropped despite being a frontline bowler. In one match, Kuldeep had even broken down after being thrashed by the batsmen badly.

However, KKR head coach Jacques Kallis doesn’t feel that there is too much to worry about Kuldeep’s form. “He didn’t have a good season so far and the reason behind it is that the wickets in Eden Gardens didn’t spin at all this year. But as far as the World Cup is concerned, I don’t think there is any need to panic. It will be a completely different format and I am sure he will bounce back strongly,” Kallis said on the eve of KKR’s game against KXIP.

The former South African cricketer also said that despite finding no place in the playing XI in the last few games, Kuldeep has continued to work hard in the nets with all intensity.

KKR will take on Kings XI Punjab in a crucial game in Mohali on Friday. Whoever loses the game will crash out of the tournament. The Kolkata side won a key game against Mumbai Indians at the Eden Gardens on April 28 after six consecutive losses to stay afloat in the contest.
