Kuldeep Yadav has tormented England batsmen in the ongoing limited-overs leg of their UK tour. He was unplayable against Ireland but very few would’ve thought the same about the more equipped Brits. He has already picked a couple of five-wicket hauls against them in three matches. The first T20 International saw him register his best-figures in the format, while the chinaman tumbled records with sensational figures of 6/25 in the first ODI. However, James Anderson is already feared of him playing in the Tests now.

Kuldeep has given the worst nightmares to England on this tour. Their World Cup preparations will be questioned now as they were tipped to win the mega event which is set to happen in the same country. But the way they have been faring against the quality spin has created the doubts in their own minds. It remains to be seen if they will be able to figure him out in the next two ODIs.

It will be a huge test for us

James Anderson is already fearing the prospect of Kuldeep Yadav playing in the five-match Test series. The way he is bowling right now, the selectors might pick him for the tussle in whites as well. “It’ll be a huge test for us if Kuldeep does play in the Test series. I have always found that the white ball is a bit easier to pick with mystery spinners,” he said while analysing the match on BBC.

However, he also explained how it’s difficult to pick the wrist spinner with the red ball. It will definitely be a challenge for the hosts and their temperament against the youngster will be tested. “I remember Muralitharan and with the black seam on the white ball, you could kind of pick it up. But with the red ball, it is a lot harder so I always used to play Murali off the pitch – and it didn’t really help too much,” Anderson added.

The first Test between India and England will commence on August 1 at Edgbaston in Birmingham after which the action will shift to London, Nottingham, Southampton and then again London for the following Tests respectively.
