Premier English pace bowler James Anderson has returned back to cricketing action after a brief injury layoff. Anderson is the leading wicket taker in Test cricket and is one of the premier prospects of swing bowling in the England team. His return to action in the County cricket is definitely a big boost for the national side as well. England are scheduled to take on South Africa in 4-match Test series in about a couple of weeks time.
The first Test of the South Africa tour to England begins on July 6 at the Lord’s. The Test series would commence after the conclusion of the 3-match T20I series. England have already won the ODI series of the tour 2-1 which took place prior to the Champions Trophy.
James Anderson turned up for his County team Lancashire recently. He took part in the match against Hampshire at the Emirates Old Trafford in a fixture of the Specsavers County Championship Division One. The 34 year old bowler has always been troubled by injuries in the past which has seen him being out of action for quite a decent part of his playing career.
About the injury
He had picked up the injury almost a month ago when he had turned up for the Lancashire Roses in the match against Yorkshire in the same competition. Back then, he had walked out of the field due to the groin injury after having bowled only 5.3 overs in the match. He limped his way out of the field in the game. He later underwent the scans that revealed a tear in his groin.
This had given rise to the fears among the national camp that James Anderson might end up missing out on the initial part of the home Test series against South Africa. However, his return to the County front suggests that he is fit and raring to go in the national whites soon.
