James Neesham clears air on not touring Pakistan in September

In the times when bilateral series are going on in full swing, New Zealand is all set to tour Pakistan in the month of September for their limited-overs series. New Zealand after touring Bangladesh will land on Pakistan soil to play three ODIs and five T20Is starting from September 17. In the same sequence of events, Kiwi all-rounder James Neesham gave an update about his travel.
A Pakistan fan took to his Twitter to ask Neesham about his excitement about touring Pakistan. However, Neesham made it clear that he wouldn’t be touring Pakistan due to logistical complications in an era of COVID-19. Also, the all-rounder added that he wishes he gets another chance in the future.
“Unfortunately, due to the logistical complications of touring in the current covid environment, I’ve made the tough decision not to tour Pakistan at this time. Hopefully, I get another chance in the future,” tweeted Neesham.

Talking about Neesham on the professional front, he would be having busy few months moving ahead. He is currently up in ECB’s new 100 ball format game, The Hundred, where he is plying his trade for Welsh Fire. After finishing his stint in the men’s Hundred 2021, he will move to the UAE for playing the second phase of the Indian Premier League. He would be up for Mumbai Indians who are all set to play the opening clash against Chennai Super Kings on the gulf nation.
The second leg of IPL 2021 is all set to kick off on September 19. After IPL 2021, Neesham would be busy in the ICC T20 WC 2021 with New Zealand. The showpiece T20 event has also been shifted to the UAE from India keeping in mind the concerns of COVID-19. Neesham has been named in the ICC T20 WC squad given out by New Zealand a few days back only. It remains to be seen if Blackcaps will be able to dominate this ICC event as they recently won the inaugural edition of the ICC WTC.
