Apart from James Neesham, five New Zealand cricketers will feature in this year's edition of the T20 league.
New Zealand all-rounder James Neesham would be making his debut for the IPL franchise Kings XI Punjab this year who bought him at a price of Rs. 50 lakhs at 2020 auction. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is all set to kick-start the much-awaited 13th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) from September 19th, with the final to take place on November 10th.
The Auckland-born star had made his T20 debut for New Zealand in 2012 against South Africa. In his international career of 8 years, Neesham has represented Kiwis in 18 T20 Internationals, scoring 185 runs and taking 13 wickets.
Speaking about IPL, the all-rounder made his debut in 2014 with Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals) in which he featured in only 4 matches scoring 42 runs and taking just 1 wicket.
James Neesham answered several questions on Twitter
With the Indian T20 league just over a month away, James conducted a question and answer (Q&A) session on his official Twitter handle. The cricketer answered almost all the queries of his fans related to his personal and professional life.
During the session, a fan asked him about his second-favourite IPL Team. On this, the Auckland stalwart responded saying that if Kings XI Punjab doesn’t register a victory this season, he would want to see Kolkata Knight Riders lifting the cup.
James has a soft corner for the IPL franchise KKR due to the presence of his friends in that outfit. The fan questioned, “Your 2nd favourite IPL Team?? @JimmyNeesh.” To this James answered, “Umm if @lionsdenkxip don’t win I’d want @KKRiders to because of my mates there”
The two-time champions Kolkata Knight Riders have significant chances of winning in the 2020 edition of the cash-rich tournament as they have a well-balanced squad due to the presence of players like Eoin Morgan, Pat Cummins, Dinesh Karthik, Sunil Narine, Kuldeep Yadav, Lockie Ferguson, Andre Russell and many more.
Apart from James Neesham, five New Zealand cricketers namely Lockie Ferguson (Kolkata Knight Riders), Mitchell McClenaghan and Trent Boult (Mumbai Indians), Kane Williamson (Sunrisers Hyderabad) and Mitchell Santner (Chennai Super Kings) will feature in this year’s edition of the T20 league.
