James Taylor had to undergo a fresh surgery in order to fit an internal defibrillator to his heart. The operation will help his heart to restart automatically in the event of a stoppage.
Earlier in April, the right-handed batsman was forced to retire from international cricket at the age of just 26 after he was diagnosed with arrhythmogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy (ARVC).
Taylor put up a picture of himself in hospital on Wednesday (June 8) to his followers on Twitter. He also posted a message, “Well, that was the best sleep ever. At the bottom of a very steep hill, I can’t wait to see the view from the top.”

He recalls the day when he felt uneasy during one of his practice sessions. He disclosed that it was after the warm up before a county game that he started feeling uneasy and his heart rate went on the rise.
He played seven Tests and 27 One-Day Internationals (ODIs) for his country.
Taylor played his final Test match against South Africa in Centurion. However, he fell ill before a warm-up game for his county Nottinghamshire against Cambridge University. Subsequent tests indicated the rare heart condition.
James Taylor suffered this career ending condition at a stage when his career had begun to flourish. A gritty batsman and a fabulous short leg fielder, Taylor had become a regular feature in the England team in all three format.
