MS Dhoni and his future in international cricket has been a topic of debate over the last few months now. Every now and then, different reports surface about him. The veteran, however, has still managed to maintain suspense over his retirement from the sport even as the head coach Ravi Shastri recently cleared that his form in the IPL will give an indication about Dhoni playing in the T20 World Cup 2020.
However, the man himself has brought an end to all the speculations about him now and has urged everyone to not ask him about his comeback until January. India is scheduled to play three T20Is and as many One-Day Internationals next month for which MS Dhoni hasn’t been picked in the squads. However, the Men in Blue will play Sri Lanka in the three T20 Internationals in January and then host Australia for as many ODIs later in the month.
Given that, MS Dhoni has asked to not ask him anything until January could be a hint of either his comeback or his retirement decision. “January tak mat poocho,” the 38-year-old was quoted as saying by Sportstar when asked about his return to international cricket.
MS Dhoni hasn’t played since the World Cup 2019
The former India captain MS Dhoni hasn’t played for India since the World Cup 2019 semi-final against New Zealand. He served for the Indian Army soon after the tournament and since then has been spotted either training in the nets. The wicketkeeper-batsman also won a Tennis tournament organised at the JSCA.
He also visited the Indian dressing room during the Test match against South Africa and was seen speaking to the debutant and local player Shahbaz Nadeem. In the meantime, various reports have surfaced around his IPL future as well. Earlier in the day, it was reported that MS Dhoni has told the CSK to release him ahead of the IPL 2021 mega auction and then buy him back at a relatively lesser price.
However, the official Twitter handle of the CSK clarified soon stating that the nation knows that the franchise will never release the skipper.
