Jason Behrendorff has been a great addition to the camp, says Quinton de Kock

As the seventh-place Mumbai Indians (MI) will lock horns with the defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK), the hosts will see a few changes in their side. While the Dhoni-led CSK side has been unbeaten so far, Mumbai has only managed one win. From the batting to the bowling, the woes concerning the otherwise well-reputed franchise have touched all departments.

One of the changes being incorporated to the Mumbai Indians camp was the addition of Aussie left-arm pacer Jason Behrendorff. He participated in the recently concluded series between Australia and Pakistan and played the final two ODIs as frontline pacer Pat Cummins was rested. The 28-year-old left-arm fast bowler from Perth claimed one and three wickets in the final two matches, respectively.

After the conclusion of the UAE tour, which Australia won 5-0, the Mumbai Indians recruit finally arrived in India on Monday. Following that, the Perth Scorchers player was seen in a video posted by the MIPaltan on Twitter wherein he announced his arrival and that he’s ready to participate in the IPL.

He is just getting used to the conditions

The Mumbai Indians left-handed opener Quinton de Kock spoke about his thoughts on Jason Behrendorff- the latest addition to the MI squad. The 26-year-old wicketkeeper, as quoted by the Mumbai Indians official website, said, “Obviously, he’s [Jason] just been here for a couple of days. I’m sure he’s still getting used to the whole team environment. We’re still getting to know each other, but he’s been a very good addition to the team since he’s been here… he’s just having a net session, getting used to conditions. I’m sure he’s just going through the paces to make sure he has a good tournament.”

De Kock believes that the MI bowlers will stand up

As the Mumbai Indians batting has been relatively better than the bowling department so far in the IPL season of 2019, the South African wicketkeeper has also been thoughtful toward the bowlers, who have been up against it on difficult batting surfaces in our first three games.

“I think the last three wickets we’ve played on have been batsman-friendly and in the IPL the bowlers are always under a lot of pressure. It doesn’t matter who you are, but I’m sure the bowlers in our team will stand up. They do very well for their country and so far, they’ve done well for – when possible – Mumbai. So, I’m sure they are going to stand up for us very soon,” de Kock added.
