England, aiming to level the three-match series 1-1, flagged off the first Test at Manchester in style as they amassed a mammoth 469-run total on the scoreboard. Dom Sibley (120) and Ben Stokes (176) flaunted grit and resilience to ensure that the hosts post a dominant total on the board and put visitors West Indies under pressure.

In response, the Jason Holder-led side kept losing wickets at regular intervals but Sharmarh Brooks (68) and Roston Chase (51) ensured that the Caribbean men cross the 200-run mark in their first innings. In the end, West Indies were cleaned up for 287 by England.

As the Test has progressed on the final day, England are currently trying their best to rule out the possibility of a draw. On Day 5, Ben Stokes again rose to the occasion to cream another half-century and steer England to 129/3. Joe Root declared their second innings and set a challenging target of 312 for West Indies to win.

Carrying on his stupendous form, Stokes hogged the limelight on the final day as he remained unbeaten on 78 off 57 with four fours and three sixes. However, on the other hand, Stokes’ contemporary and West Indies skipper Jason Holder was criticised for his atrocious reviews on Day 5 at Old Trafford.

It was looking like the West Indies side was desperate for wickets and in the process, they lost three reviews in three overs, inviting criticism from many fans. Some fans even pointed out that the visitors were only aiming to waste some time by taking those reviews.

Two of them were pitching way outside leg

It all started in the 15th over when the West Indies side thought that they had trapped Stokes in front. Holder, who was also the bowler, took the review only to find out that the ball was pitching way outside leg.

The same was repeated in the next over bowled by Alzarri Joseph. Skipper Jason Holder took the second review and the ball was pitching outside leg yet again, leading fans to accuse the Caribbean side of time-wasting. Even the commentary panel burst into laughter after witnessing the horror LBW reviews.

West Indies carried on their affair with failed reviews as they took it again in the 17th over bowled by skipper Holder. On the first ball, they thought that batsman Ollie Pope was LBW after he tried to flick the ball but missed it in the process. However, the Ultra Edge, in the review, showed a spike, indicating that bat was involved in the process.

Jason Holder and his troops, despite delivering an impressive performance in the first Test at Southampton, were criticised for their antics on the final day of the second Test.
