Jason Holder praises two Windies players for coming back to play in the World Cup Qualifiers
The skipper lauds the presence of senior players Chris Gayle and Marlon Samuels in the side.
The 50-overs World Cup 2019 is not quite far away as all the top 10 teams in the ICC rankings have started their different types of preparations and plannings for the crucial limited overs tournament. While some teams like West Indies, Afghanistan, Hong Kong, Nepal, Ireland, Papua New Guinea, Scotland, Netherlands, UAE, and Zimbabwe would be battling out to claim the final two spots in the World Cup Qualifiers, starting from today in Zimbabwe. The West Indies team led by all-rounder Jason Holder is expected to be one of the favorite teams to secure their spot in the major event after having missed out on the opportunity provided earlier.
Many star Windies players like Kieron Pollard, Sunil Narine, Darren Bravo and Andre Russel have chosen to skip the qualifiers and in the meanwhile, these all big names of the Windies cricket are playing in the third edition of the Pakistan Super League.
Both Chris and Marlon have done a commendable work
Two of the starring personalities of Windies cricket, opener Chris Gayle and middle-order batsman Marlon Samuels are with the national team for the qualifiers. The two of the greatest hitters of the cricket ball has picked their home nation out of the rest of the events and will be representing their team in all the qualifying matches. Their skipper Holder also praised the two by revealing their idea of coming back to the Windies team as a commendable and appreciable one. They have come back to motivate this team and provide them a sure shot ticket to the main tournament in 2019.
“I must commend Chris and Marlon, who have come here with the motivation to do well for the Windies and give themselves a chance to play another World Cup,” said Holder before his team’s first Group A fixture as quoted by Wisden India.
Both Gayle and Samuels were also part of the Windies team in their previous limited-overs tour to England and New Zealand recently. The entire Windies dressing filled with some young players and the regulars would also be thrilled and astonished to witness these two experienced campaigners being part of this team once again.
