India defeated the spirited Kiwi side by just 6 which threatened to upset them in the ODI series in Kanpur on Sunday. The match went right down to the wire and it was the bowling of Jasprit Bumrah which helped India steal a game which at one stage looked in the favour of the visitors. However, the cliffhanger turned on its head in the 48th over when the bowler ran out the best batsman of the opposition Tom Latham which also left the former captain MS Dhoni in splits.
The funny incident happened when the match hanging right in the balance and India desperately needed the wicket of Latham. Bumrah delivered a perfect yorker to Colin de Grandhomme which he missed and the ball went to Dhoni. He fumbled in the first go which made Latham think about stealing the bye and he ran. However, the wicket-keeper recovered and threw it back to the bowler to effect the run-out. Bumrah in return aimed a direct hit and he hit the bullseye to find the batsman well short of his ground.
But the former Indian captain was left laughing at Bumrah and was seen explaining to him that he had enough time to run back and hit the stumps. Also if he had missed the direct hit at such a crucial juncture of the game, the reaction would have been entirely different and the result of the match could have gone either way. As the dismissal was effected, the players enjoyed the moment and then concentrated on sealing the game and eventually, the series.

India win their seventh series in a row
Virat Kohli and his men are in the middle of a dream run in the limited overs format. They beat New Zealand on Sunday and won their seventh consecutive bilateral ODI series. The record is expected to continue as Sri Lanka will tour next for the three-match series across all formats. Recently India clean slated them in all the formats when they travelled Sri Lanka in August earlier this year.
