Jasprit Bumrah is the best bowler in India right now: Shane Bond
Bond has been the bowling coach of Mumbai Indians and has seen Bumrah closely during the IPL.
Former New Zealand fast bowler Shane Bond feels that Jasprit Bumrah is the best bowler in India right now to bowl the pressure overs. Bond has been the bowling coach of the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Mumbai Indians and Bumrah has developed his skills under him over the last few years. Bumrah’s success in white-ball cricket might soon earn him a call-up at the Test level.
The 23-year-old has taken such a gigantic leap in the international cricket in the short span of 18 months and is now one of the top 5 bowlers in world cricket in the limited-overs format. He was also adjudged Man of the Series in the ODIs against Sri Lanka which India won 5-0 earlier this month. Since his debut, Bumrah has bowled by default bowled the death overs for India and has never let his skipper down as most of the times he has come up trumps.
He has got an amazing temperament
Bond was full of praises when asked about the abilities of Bumrah and had no hesitation in saying that he is the best bowler in India.
“I am never going to be tired of praising him even if I repeat myself. He is probably the best (in India) to bowl the pressure overs, because he has got exceptional skills and an amazing temperament,” Bond said before his departure to India with the New Zealand “A” team as bowling coach according to livemint.
He also felt that the Indian youngster would also excel in the longest format of the game despite the fact that he has been labelled as a limited-overs specialist.
“There is little doubt about him being a world-class white-ball bowler and I do think he will play Test cricket and can sustain success across all formats. It’s not only about yorkers and slower balls any more. He can bowl a good length ball and get a nick off you as well, which is the biggest improvement in his bowling,” he added.
