Three-time champions Mumbai Indians (MI) are back to their winning ways in IPL 2019 and stand on the second spot in the points table with just two points behind defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK). They are upbeat after beating Rajasthan Royals by 5 wickets and Delhi Capitals by 40 runs and are on course to make it to the playoffs.
The MI team has a number of match-winners who have come to the party to push their side up. One of the main trump cards of the team is Jasprit Bumrah who has so far picked 10 wickets from nine games at an average of 22.7 and economy rate of 6.54. The 25-year-old’s best bowling performance in this IPL came on Thursday when he took two for 18 against DC, including that of dangerous Rishabh Pant who had taken him on their first match last month.
Bumrah on Friday posted a picture on Twitter showing himself standing as the odd man out among his MI teammates in likes of Kieron Pollard, Yuvraj Singh, Quinton de Kock, Lasith Malinga and others at the airport. While others donned cool team dress of MI, the bespectacled bowler himself was in another outfit and he captioned the photo as “#latelateef” (laggard), implying his mates for being late for the practice session.

Mumbai plays the Royals at Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on Saturday and another win there will put them right on the track towards a mega business end in this tournament.
Bumrah doing well this season as well after 2017 and 2018
Bumrah, who is one of India’s trump cards in the upcoming World Cup which will kick off next month, has played in 70 IPL games with 73 scalps. His best exploits came in 2017 when he took 20 wickets in 16 matches at an average of 22. Last year, he got 17 wickets from 14 matches at an average of 21.88 even though the MI failed to make the playoffs. This year, both Bumrah and MI are looking strong like in 2017.
