Jasprit Bumrah imitates Anil Kumble’s bowling action at the nets
Bumrah has been picked for the Chennai Tests against England after he missed the Brisbane Test.
Jasprit Bumrah has been a key component of India’s bowling attack over the last five years. In 2016, he made his debut in the T20I series in Australia and captured the imaginations of the fans and the selectors. In fact, on his Indian Premier League (IPL) debut for the Mumbai Indians (MI), he picked the prized wicket of Virat Kohli, the skipper of the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).
Ever since then, his career has gone upwards, and currently, he is a fulcrum of the national team across formats. In 2016 itself, he forayed into ODI cricket and a couple of years later, the 27-year-old made his Test debut in the tour of South Africa. Due to his immense level of popularity, a number of youngsters have been seen, imitating him on roads, homes, and backyards.
Jasprit Bumrah rolls back the clock
However, this time around, it was the turn of Bumrah to imitate a legendary Indian bowler. It’s none other than Anil Kumble, India’s most successful bowler in ODIs and Tests. Even after more than a decade following his retirement, Jumbo is the country’s highest wicket-taker in both formats.
In the meantime, the Ahmedabad-born Bumrah nailed Kumble’s action at the nets before India’s four-match Test series, starting February 5. The video was uploaded by the official Instagram handle of the Indian cricket team.
Their official handle captioned the video and wrote, “We have all seen @jaspritb1’s fiery yorkers & sharp bouncers. Here’s presenting a never-seen-before version of the #TeamIndia pacer. Boom tries to emulate the legendary @anil.kumble’s bowling action and pretty much nails it!”

Bumrah played the three Tests in Australia in Adelaide, Melbourne, and Sydney. In those games, he made a significant impact but missed out on the last Test at The Gabba in Brisbane due to injury. However, he has been picked for the England Tests, starting at the MA Chidambaram Stadium.
