Jasprit Bumrah is the best T20 bowler in the world: Mohammad Amir

With just one day left for the blockbuster clash between India and Pakistan in the ICC T20 World Cup, Mohammad Amir has termed India pacer Jasprit Bumrah as the best bowler in the T20 format. Within just a short span of time, Bumrah has gone to singlehandedly win games for India by picking wickets in the power play and death overs. During the warm-up match too against England, the right-hand pacer kept things tight and managed to trouble the batters with pace and pinpoint Yorkers.

Amir also said that it would be wrong to compare Bumrah with Pakistan pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi. Amir feels Afridi is still young and has to develop more as a bowler. He also said currently the Pakistani pacer is the best bowler in the country and labeled Bumrah as the best death bowler in T20 cricket.

“It would be foolish to compare Bumrah with Shaheen right now because Shaheen is young, he is learning. Bumrah has been doing good for India for quite some time, and he is doing so well. He is the best T20 bowler, I think right now. Especially in the death overs”, Amir said, on his youtube channel Uncut

“Shaheen is Pakistan’s best bowler this time. The way he has been performing in the last one and a half years. So this will be a good match-up. Bumrah bowls brilliantly with the new ball and among youngsters, Shaheen is the best when the ball is new”, Amir said.

India are set to start their T20 campaign by facing off against Pakistan on Sunday (October 24) in the Dubai International Stadium. India have managed to hold the upper hand as they have managed to beat Pakistan on all five occasions. Both Bumrah and Afridi are the key bowlers for India and Pakistan respectively. While the former has managed to pick 59 wickets in 49 T20Is, the latter has so far picked 32 wickets in 30 T20Is.

Former India pacer Venkatesh Prasad was effusive in praise of Jasprit Bumrah and called him one of the best bowlers currently in terms of economy rate. Prasad feels the pacer has a lot of variations and reads the situation well. He feels his ability to read the game well is what separates him from the rest.

“Bumrah is one of the best in terms of economy. But it is not just about pace. It is about variations and reading situations. Harshal Patel was one of the best bowlers of the IPL last season even though he is not the quickest, but he is able to read the game,” said Prasad during Red Bull Cricket Room on Clubhouse celebrating 10 years of Red Bull Campus Cricket.
