Prasidh Krishna, the Karnataka pacer, recently tasted success with India. Since his debut against England in March 2021, he has impressed everyone. His performance in his debut game was impressive as well, as he registered the best bowling figures by an Indian bowler on ODI debut, claiming 4/54. In seven ODIs, the pacer has already taken 18 wickets.

The 26-year-old has been a great addition to the Indian side and can be a crucial bowler in white-ball cricket. He is now into his fifth IPL season, currently representing the Rajasthan Royals. After making his debut in 2018, he represented KKR till 2021, before being picked for a whopping INR 10 crore by Rajasthan. In his IPL career that has spanned five years now, Krishna has made 39 appearances, taking 34 wickets.

On being asked about how he masters the skill of bowling, Krishna said: “Omkar Salvi [coach] is somebody who I have closely worked with for the last four years. He is somebody who knows my bowling in and out. Anything technical, I obviously go to him, and like I said the people that I have met, even [Jasprit] Bumrah, he is big on skills. He has told me that a bowler should be able to do everything. Now that Lasith Malinga is here, the three to four days that we have had, we have spoken a lot about bowling.”

“When the team wants you to bowl a particular ball in the game, you cannot say ‘I cannot bowl this’. You should be prepared enough or you should have the skill to be doing it, that is what makes you a successful bowler,” Krishna told on Red Bull’s Greatness Starts Here’ on CricTracker.

He also shared his opinion on what “greatness” means to him. “Greatness is very relative, I think for me to have the same kind of life, to be able to do what I am doing today, on and off the field, to have content when I am done playing cricket. I should be in a state of ‘yes, this is what I could do, I have given it my all and it’s all done. I have put it all on the field and there is nothing that I have remaining within me to give for cricket’.”

“So, I think if I get to such a place by the end of my career, I think I would have achieved greatness. No matter what level of cricket I would have ended up playing by then, but then if I have the feeling, I have given it my all, I think that is ‘greatness’ for me.”

In IPL 2022, Krishna has taken four wickets in five IPL games at an economy of 8.15. He will be eying the 2022 T20 World Cup in Australia and the IPL is the best platform to give an audition.
