‘Jassi has de thoda’ – Yuvraj Singh pokes fun at Jasprit Bumrah after pacer shines in BCCI Awards

Jasprit Bumrah has developed himself into a brute force to reckon with after making his debut for India way back in 2016. The speedster put forth some stupendous shows in the 2019 World Cup and carried the form over in the tour of the West Indies. In the Caribbean Islands, he also picked up a hat-trick. But he developed a stress fracture on his lower back in September.

The injury kept him away from the game for around four months. Recently, Bumrah made his comeback in the T20I series versus Sri Lanka. Though he wasn’t at his lethal best, he gave glimpses of the damage he can inflict. Bumrah is now set to be a part of the national squad for the ODI series versus Australia. The opening match will be played at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

Bumrah dominates BCCI awards

Bumrah’s hard-work has started to pay rich dividends. On Sunday, December 12, the BCCI Annual Function Awards took place and Bumrah bagged a couple of awards and deservingly so. He got the prestigious Polly Umrigar award and the Dilip Sardesai honour. The Polly Umrigar award is given to the best male International cricketer and it carries a trophy and a cheque of INR 15 lakhs.

Dilip Sardesai award is conferred on both the highest run-getter and highest wicket-taker in Test cricket. Bumrah is currently the number-one ranked bowler in ODI cricket. After bagging the awards, the fast bowler was over the moon.

He posted a picture where he can be seen with the two trophies. He captioned the picture and wrote, “Grateful and honoured to be taking these two awards home tonight.”

In the meantime, Yuvraj Singh, the former Indian cricketer, took it as a chance to troll Bumrah. He asked Bumrah to smile as no-one would be taking away his awards. Yuvraj also didn’t forget to congratulate and heap praise on the Ahmedabad-born speedster.

He replied to Bumrah’s post and wrote, “Jassi has de thoda no ones taking your trophies away! Jokes apart many congratulations you truly deserve it
