Indian cricket since its early days has been producing quality cricketers who have gone on to be listed in every list of great players all over the globe and across generations. And, the current crop of Indian cricketers, including the likes of players like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, KL Rahul and Jasprit Bumrah have made sure that Indian cricket team continues to progress on and on.
Pakistan and the Indian cricket team have always had a great deal of respect for each other and the fans of both the camps are always keen to know who according to them is the best player on their side according to the other side’s players.
And, making his choices clear was the former Pakistani cricketer, Javed Miandad who recently came out to name his favourite cricketer in the current Indian cricket team. Miandad had his moments of sheer passion and competition with his Indian counterparts on the field, expressing his straightforward and hugely impactful approach. While naming his favourite player too, he maintained the fashion he is known for. When asked, he named the current Team India captain Virat Kohli to be his favourite player.
‘He is a clean hitter of the ball’: Javed Miandad
“Virat performed really well in South Africa; even on an uneven wicket, he scored a hundred. You cannot say he is scared of fast bowlers or he cannot play on bouncy pitches or he doesn’t play spinners well,” Miandad told as quoted by Hindustan Times. He also added that Virat Kohli is a clean hitter of the ball and he himself feels great when he watches the Indian skipper bat on the field.
Miandad also opined on the functioning of the Pakistan Cricket Board. He told that according to him, the Pakistan Cricket Board should not let anyone who is playing the sport professionally for them, take it for granted.
“This world runs on a daily basis and wages. Score runs today, take the money and go. Score runs tomorrow then we will again pay you money. You are a professional, if you don’t work or score runs then why take money? This is the job of the Pakistan Cricket Board. They need to ensure that nobody takes the cricket team for granted,” he said.
