The Deodhar Trophy got underway on Thursday with the match between India A and India B at the JSCA International Stadium Complex in Ranchi. After being put in to bat first, India B posted a mammoth total of 302 runs in 50 overs on the back of stunning tons from Ruturaj Gaikwad and Baba Aparajith. In reply, India A never looked in the chase and when things were looking dull, a hilarious run-out, involving Jaydev Unadkat, took place which left everyone in splits.

The incident took place in the 43rd over of the innings when the result of the match was inconsequential. India A was struggling at 176/7 with Jaydev Unadkat on strike to face the fifth ball of Shahbaz Nadeem‘s over. Unadkat came down the track to play the delivery and pushed the ball to the cover fielder.

However, during all the action, the batsman slipped and after completing the shot, he kept staring at the spot where the ball was pitched. Hilariously, he forgot to go back to the crease and the alert Kedar Jadhav at covers fired the throw towards the wicket-keeper Parthiv Patel who disturbed the stumps. Jaydev Unadkat was caught napping due to the incident and was also out of his crease only for the leg umpire to adjudge him run-out.

The batsman had no idea what panned out in a split second and had no option but to walk back to the pavilion after scoring only a solitary run off seven balls.

Here’s the video:

Jaydev Unadkat had a decent day with the ball

However, earlier in the day, Jaydev Unadkat had a decent outing with the ball. He returned with the figures of 2/47 in his nine overs as India B smashed 302 runs for the loss of six wickets. The left-arm pacer struck early with the new ball to send back the man in form Priyank Panchal and then came back at the death to pick Vijay Shankar’s wicket. India A could only muster 194 runs and were bundled out in the 48th over of the chase losing the match by 108 runs.
