Jaydev Unadkat made his debut for India way back in 2010 and has represented the national team in 18 international games. However, at no point of his career thus far, he has been able to cement his place in the Men in Blue’s side. The southpaw last played an ODI for India back in 2013. However, the Porbandar-born speedster made his comeback in T20Is back in December 2017.

Nevertheless, Jaydev again went out of contention after the final of the Nidahas Trophy against Bangladesh a year ago in Colombo. He recently played in the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy and is next scheduled to play for Rajasthan Royals in the 12th edition of the cash-rich and prestigious Indian Premier League (IPL). But he isn’t concerned about his comeback to the India team.

Unadkat reveals his goal for the event

“I don’t want to keep such targets. I’ve done that in the past, I don’t want to do that now. It puts that extra bit of pressure on you which can be bad at times. As far as the IPL is concerned, the goal will be to back myself when I’m put under the pressure situations,” Unadkat was quoted as saying in Cricbuzz.

“I really want to win those 3-4 games for my team when they rely upon me to bowl that last over to win the game. I want to do it at least 3-4 times this season. That’s going to be the goal for me going forward in this IPL,” the left-arm seamer added.

Unadkat had an impressive season for the Rising Pune Supergiant in the 2017 season of the T20 tournament. Based on those shows, he was picked at a whopping price of INR 11.5 crores by the Royals in the erstwhile season, but he couldn’t live up to the expectations. He was subsequently released and was again brought by the Rajasthan-based franchise, this time at a price of INR 8.4 crores.
