When it comes to cricket, India’s women players are not far behind their male counterparts in showcasing the team camaraderie. Recently, Indian men’s team captain Virat Kohli came up with a special gesture of opening the door of the dressing room to welcome Rohit Sharma after the latter hit 176 in the first Test against South Africa in Visakhapatnam.
While a captain came up with a kind gesture on that occasion, the reverse was visible in the women’s team. Jemimah Rodrigues and Harleen Deol recently came up with a rap to greet their captain Harmanpreet Kaur after the appeared in her 100th T20I match.
It was, however, not a happy outing for Kaur – both as a captain and batswoman. Although she took a wicket in the sixth T20I against South Africa in Surat, she fell for only one with the bat as India suffered a 105-run loss. India though won the series 3-1. The second and third matches were completely washed out.
Kaur is now the most-capped Indian player in T20Is and has scored over 2,004 runs in the format at an average of 28-plus. She has one hundred and six fifties. On Sunday, Rodrigues posted a video on Twitter in which she could be seen rapping with Harleen inside a hotel room.
“Congratulations on your 100th T20i cap @ImHarmanpreet ??? Here’s a small tribute for you from Big Harry ft. Lil’ J,” Rodrigues, a teenage all-rounder, said in her caption of the video.
Congratulations on your 100th T20i cap @ImHarmanpreet ✊🏼

Harmanpreet, 30, acknowledged the video later and thanked her two young colleagues. “Thank you little ones. It indeed is a pleasure to have you all do this for me,” she said in her reply while retweeting the video. Harleen is a 21-year-old cricketer.

Harmanpreet first-ever Indian cricketer to play 100 T20Is
Harmanpreet also became the first-ever Indian cricketer to have played in 100 T20Is. In the men’s section, former captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni and current vice-captain Rohit Sharma have played 98 games each. While it seems unlikely that Dhoni will get to reach 100 in the nearby future, Rohit will certainly make it to the three-figure club soon. Kohli has played in 72 T20Is while Mithali Raj has played 89.
Internationally, New Zealander Suzie Bates, Australian Ellyse Perry, and Pakistani Shoaib Malik have played 111 T20I games. Malik is the only batsman to have played in 100-plus T20Is while in women’s cricket, as many as 10 including the Indian captain have achieved the feat.
