West Indies pace bowler Jerome Taylor has recently decided to come out of his Test retirement and be back in the West Indies whites. The Jamaican pacer informed the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) about his availability for the Test format of the game. It was earlier in mid-2016 when Jerome Taylor had called it a day in the longest format of the game. His retirement had come just prior to the India’s tour to West Indies in July 2016.

Now, having come out of his retirement, the 32-year-old pacer will be available for selection for the upcoming series against Pakistan. West Indies will host Pakistan for a 3 match Test series that commences on April 21. In a press release by the WICB, Taylor confirmed the news and remarked that he still has a lot to offer to the West Indies team. He wishes to add value to the team with his experience.

“I believe I still have a lot of cricket left in me and I know I can still offer a lot to West Indies cricket in the Test arena. If selected, I will look to put my best foot forward and give my all for the team. We have some young players in the group at the moment and I believe with my experience, I can add to the team going forward,” quoted Jerome Taylor.

The WICB was also pleased with his return to the game. The chairman of selectors, Mr. Courtney Browne, welcomed the decision to return made by Taylor. He remarked that he is happy to see a good pool of available players.

“It is good to see that Jerome has decided to come out of retirement and make himself available for Tests once again. When you look at the volume of cricket we have this year, we will need to look at all the resources we have available, and having someone of his ability and experience adds value to our player pool,” Browne conceded.

Taylor has 130 Test wickets to his name at an average just over 34 and a best of 6/47.
